Watch out if you speak Spanish
- Spanish cover letters often open with a formal, generic greeting and build up slowly. English readers expect the role and your fit in the first two lines.
- Keep it to one page, three to four short paragraphs. A long cover letter reads as unfocused, not thorough.
- Avoid I think I would be a good fit without a reason. Replace it with a specific example that proves it.
- A quien corresponda becomes Dear Hiring Manager if you don't have a name, not To whom it may concern, which now sounds dated in most industries.

Questions
- How long should a cover letter be?
- One page, three to four short paragraphs. Long enough for one real example, short enough to read in a minute.
- What if I don't have the hiring manager's name?
- Use Dear Hiring Manager, or Dear [Team] Team if you know the department. Avoid To Whom It May Concern, which reads as outdated.
