Frases para cada momento

Plantear un problema

  • I wanted to raise something.
  • Can we talk about what happened with the report?
  • I need to bring something up, do you have a minute?

No estar de acuerdo sin generar conflicto

  • I see it a bit differently.
  • I'm not sure that's the full picture.
  • Let's agree to disagree for now and come back to it.

Decir que no con firmeza

  • That doesn't work for us.
  • I'm not able to commit to that.
  • Unfortunately, that's not something we can do right now.

Mantener la conversación encauzada

  • That's outside the scope of what we agreed.
  • Can I just finish this point, then I'll hand it over to you?
  • Let's park that and come back to it after.

Bajar la tensión

  • Let's take a step back for a second.
  • Let me make sure I understand before I respond.
  • I think we want the same thing here.
  • Can we focus on finding a solution?

Hacer seguimiento

  • Thanks for hearing me out.
  • I appreciate you being direct about this.
  • Let's check in again next week and see how it's going.

Confrontativo a profesional

ConfrontativoProfesional
That's not my problem.I don't think I'm the right person for this, let's loop in...
You're wrong.I see it a bit differently.
Whatever, fine.Okay, I can work with that.
This is ridiculous.I'm having trouble understanding the reasoning here.
We'll never agree on this.Let's find some common ground first.

Cuidado si hablás español

  • La franqueza rioplatense (y esto quien lo aprueba, no, asi no va) traducida palabra por palabra puede sonar confrontativa en inglés. Sumá una frase que suavice primero: I hear you, and...
  • En inglés se suele nombrar el problema, no a la persona: the report wasn't ready, no you didn't finish the report.
  • Un no firme necesita una razón: that doesn't work for us because...
Para interrumpir, decí sorry to jump in. Para manejar a quien domina la charla, decí can I just finish this point, then hand it over, mantiene la conversación encauzada y alineada sin cortar a mitad de frase.

Preguntas

¿Cómo le digo a mi jefe que no estoy de acuerdo, en inglés?
Usá un marco más suave: Can I offer a different view? o I see it a bit differently. Mantiene el desacuerdo sobre la idea, no sobre la persona.
¿Es grosero decir que no directamente en inglés?
Un no sin razón puede sonar tajante. Sumá una razón corta y, si podés, una alternativa: that doesn't work for us, but we could...
