Cómo usarlos en el trabajo
- Muchos términos legales se parecen en inglés y español (contrato, cláusula, negligencia), porque los dos toman de la tradición legal latina, pero cuidado con sentence: en un contexto legal suele significar la condena de un juez, no una oración gramatical.
- Counsel (un abogado, o un consejo legal) suena igual que council (un comité). El contexto los distingue, pero vale la pena saber que son palabras distintas.
- La escritura legal en inglés repite a propósito el mismo término definido en todo un documento, en vez de variar las palabras por estilo. No lo leas como un error si lo ves.

- Los dos idiomas toman mucho de la tradición legal latina, así que palabras como jurisdiction y litigation se parecen. Los significados y los sistemas legales igual difieren, así que siempre confirmá el término exacto que se usa en un contrato o jurisdicción específica.
- ¿Puedo practicar revisar un contrato real en clase?
- Sí, una clase de inglés para el trabajo puede revisar un documento real con el que estés trabajando y armar vocabulario y frases alrededor de él.
